InnSpire 2018 - A Scenic Trip to Yosemite

The 2018 InnSpire Conference & Marketplace was held January 21-23 at the beautiful Tenaya Lodge at Yosemite. This mountain-venue provided a new backdrop for the popular annual conference and offered attendees a chance to visit one of California’s unique destinations. The weather even behaved and provided for safe and easy travel conditions, while still giving attendees the snow-capped mountain scenery we had hoped for.

2018 Conference Highlights

The conference started on Sunday, January 21 with Micah Solomon as the opening keynote speaker and a reception in the marketplace. This year’s opening reception included a Zinfandel tasting and attendees were asked to vote for which Zin was their favorite. The county that produced our attendees favorite “Zin” gets ultimate bragging rights. And the big winner was Wildrotter Vineyard’s Estate Zinfandel, produced in Amador County!

The marketplace floor was packed with innkeepers shopping for products, setting up vendor appointments, and trying out the latest services offered by industry suppliers. Click here to see the full list of vendors at the 2018 marketplace.

Back by popular demand, Monday was kicked off by the fan-favorite roundtable workshops and continued with more education and marketplace shopping time. On Monday night attendees were invited to put down their pens and notebooks and join us for a “Winter Wonderland” theme dinner event, complete with photobooth, an amazing dinner and live music.

The final day of the conference was full of education from industry experts and closed on a high note with Janice Hurly-Hollis from Innkeepers headed home reenergized and excited to put what they learned at Tenaya Lodge to use at their inns. Innkeeping as a Profession (IAP) Workshop

Prior to the conference, 25 aspiring innkeepers attended the annual Innkeeping as a Profession (IAP) workshop. These innkeeping newbies and hopefuls spent two-days immersed in the industry with expert speakers and veteran innkeepers. This years’ IAP attendees were energetic and eager to get into the industry. The highlight of the workshop was the final panel session, which featured four innkeepers who had all participated in the IAP program in the past and are now successful innkeepers. These success stories left our IAP attendees excited and inspired!
