The 2009 InnSpire Conference and Trade Show

The name says it all: ‘InnSpire.’ We couldn’t have stayed in business for over 28 years without this annual ‘shot of inspiration.’ - Carol and Jim Beazley, The Beazley House Bed & Breakfast, Napa, CA

Join us for the 2009 InnSpire Conference and Trade Show in beautiful Monterey, California where the famous 17-Mile Drive meets 17 years of CABBI's dedication to educating innkeepers.

The 2009 InnSpire Conference and Trade Show will take place February 1-3, 2009 at the Hyatt Regency Monterey Resort & Spa, located at One Old Golf Course Road, Monterey, CA 93940.

The Innkeeping As a Profession (IAP) workshop is being held January 31 and February 1, 2009, also at the Hyatt Regency Monterey Resort & Spa.

Network, Dine & Learn

There are plenty of opportunities planned for you to network with fellow innkeepers. Sunday’s Super Bowl Party marks the opening of the Trade Show. This event will set the stage for a lively and fun-filled conference with games, raffle prizes and more! Watch the Super Bowl at the trade show and root for your favorite team on large screens while enjoying a large variety of Super Bowl Party food, beer and cold refreshments. Network with vendors in the Trade Show that are there to provide a once-a-year shopping discount and to showcase products and services to innkeepers.

Education

As a professional innkeeper, this is the one annual conference you do not want to miss! Stay on the cutting edge and listen to educational workshops that include; Winning Strategies for Email Marketing, Mass Media = Mass Market (Using Videos to Market Your Inn), How to Handle Negative Online Reviews, Demystifying Google Analytics and Creative Menus for your Diverse Array of Guests.

New this year are our Roundtable discussions – speed dating style! You can participate by asking experts questions one-on-one. Topics will include: Living in Your Bed & Breakfast, Navigating Global Distribution Networks and Realtime Online Reservations Discussion and many more. Where else can you talk to with innkeepers and veteran speakers like Innkeeper Rita Timewell, Jeff Tweddale of BookingCenter.com and Scott Crumpton of Whitestone Marketing? Ask Scott Crumpton a web site design question. Ask Rita Timewell of the Albert Shafsky House, who lives in her bed and breakfast, for the real scoop on living where you work. What a fun way to get all your questions answered by industry experts and seasoned innkeepers.

Are your guests re-assured that you have an emergency plan in place? Our focus this year is on Emergency Preparedness, an important topic with a series of presentations planned including a General Session and two workshops. This track will address different aspects of being prepared personally and professionally. You will leave the conference with handouts to easily implement back at your inn. This track alone is worth attending InnSpire 2009!

Monday’s Keynote: Branding Your Bed and Breakfast for Success Presented by Karen McCullough
No matter what size your business is, your brand has a tremendous impact on your bottom line. Your brand reflects who you are, what you do, what makes you better and different from all other Bed and Breakfasts in your area. Your brand is not simply your tagline, slogan or advertising campaign. Your brand is the core of your business and like it or not, you already have a brand. Find out how you can uncover what makes your bed and breakfast one in a million. Learn how to inspire and empower yourself and your staff to live and build the brand!
Session will cover:
• Uncovering your brand and communicating your brand to the world
• The power of your brand and why it keeps YOU and your staff motivated (You may be your staff)
• How to implement programs and activities that reinforce your brand
• The importance of speaking and writing in consistent brand language

Tuesday’s General Session:Communications in Times of Crisis
Tourism media expert Elaine Cali and Detective Dave Wiggins offer this concise presentation on how to prepare in advance for a crisis. Wiggins, is a 20-year veteran of California law enforcement and past President of the California Tourism Safety & Security Association. Cali serves as Vice President of the Anaheim/Orange County Visitors and Convention Bureau. Together, this unique team will advise innkeepers on how to respond to the media when a crisis unfolds at an inn. They will also give you guidence on how to effectively work with Public Information Officers. As we have all witnessed, whenever guests safety/security is in question, the media can be persistent in reporting the story. While large hotel chains generally have professional spokespeople, at smaller properties this role will likely fall to YOU. The media can be relentless if you failed to take proper measures to avoid an incident that could have been prevented. Are you prepared to be the focus of intense public scrutiny? Do you know the Do’s & Don’ts of making public statements? How can you best get your message out to your incoming guests and potential guests? This general session will encourage you to develop a plan for your inn on how to properly handle crisis situations.
